Visitors to Oklahoma City in October will have the opportunity to enjoy two big events – the opening of Oklahoma City’s newest comedy club – Stooges Comedy Club & Piano Bar - and nationally acclaimed comedian and headliner Roy Wood, Jr.
Stooges, located at 70 North Oklahoma in Bricktown, will open their doors for the first show Friday, October 12 and will feature live comedians during two shows each Friday and Saturday night. Stooges is a intimate comedy club with comfortable seating for 120 allowing guests to enjoy the comedians.
The month kicks off October 12 and 13 with opening act David Kious, and headliner Roy Wood Jr. Hailing from Birmingham, Alabama, Roy started his comedy career in 1999 at the age of 19. His creative writing and dedicated work ethic has since earned him the right to perform his comedy in front of millions of people. Most recently, Roy has been featured on CBS’ Late Show with David Letterman, Comedy Central’s Bob and Tom Comedy Tour special, Premium Blend and showcased at the prestigious Montreal Comedy Festival.
Steering clear of predictable topics and premises, Roy delivers comedy that gives an honest look at not only his life, but the world in which we live. The universal appeal of his comedy crosses all race and cultural lines which is why he has worked hundreds of colleges and universities as well as opened for an array of comedians ranging from D.L. Hughley, Ron White, Monique, Tommy Davidson, Bill Engvall and Cheryl Underwood.
Headliner comedian B.T. will follow the opening act of Ken Mathias at Stooges October. 19 and 20. B.T. is the second hardest working man in show business, perfecting his act at the top comedy clubs in the country. This drama school graduate was well-trained for the rigors of making people laugh and has been so successful that he has performed at the prestigious HBO U.S. Comedy Arts Festival. B.T.’s physical performance style and charm landed him two performances on NBC’s “Friday Night Videos”. He has also appeared on BET Comic View, MTV’s The Jenny McCarthy Show, and FOX’s The Keenan Ivory Wayans Show.
Rounding out the month will be opening act Ross Duncliffe, followed by headliner Pat Dixon, October 26 and 27th. Recognized as a top-notch writer and engaging performer, Pat combines a conversational style with tight, punchy material, all fueled by a uniquely off-kilter comedic sensibility which keeps audiences guessing. Though his humor is sometimes dry, deep down he’s all about the love, and feels his emotions with the utmost sincerity; love, hate and everything in between.
Stooges Comedy Club & Piano Bar features two shows – 7 and 9pm - every Friday and Saturday night. Tickets are available in advance by calling 405-232-6463, or at the club the night of the show.
