The Oklahoma River is one of OKC’s most exciting destinations! It frequently receives worldwide acclaim as a venue for competitive water sport events, its incredible economic impact and its role in continuing Oklahoma City’s momentum for excellence.
Once a nearly dry river called the North Canadian, the Oklahoma River was renovated as part of the original MAPS initiatives in 1993. Finally completed in 2004, the area has quickly become a popular destination for fitness and recreation as well as a host of national events such as the Olympic Kayak Trials, drag boat racing and more.
In April 2008, Oklahoma River Cruises began transit ferry service. Since then, thousands of passengers tour a six mile stretch of river from Regatta Park to the Meridian Landing on 65-foot cruisers outfitted with a climate-controlled cabin, restrooms, concessions and open decks for roaming.
Oklahoma River Cruises is the way to discover some of Oklahoma City’s hidden treasures. Oklahoma River Cruises provides river transit access to Historic Stockyards City, the bustling Meridian Corridor and the lush Regatta Park/Boathouse District.
There are currently three boarding locations for Oklahoma River Cruises: Regatta Park near Downtown in the Boathouse District, Exchange Landing (1503 Exchange) and Meridian Landing just east of Meridian near SW 15. It is expected that other stops will be added including one at the upcoming American Indian Cultural Center.
Public ferry service departs Wednesday through Sunday April – November and Saturday and Sundays in December. A one leg trip lasts approximately 45 minutes. Oklahoma River Cruises is a fun and exciting family-friendly adventure, traveling through locks (much like the ones used on the Panama Canal) and presenting stunning scenery of Oklahoma City.
William Shakespeare is your guide on the Shakespeare on the River Cruise. He tells about his relationship with his river the Thames, and his theatre, The Globe, in London of the 1500s-1600s. Passengers can release their inner actor as they are quizzed on Shakespeare’s works and enjoy poetry from the Bard. Shakespeare cruises depart from Regatta Park and Exchange Landing on Sundays in June and July. Times vary; normal fares apply for these cruises.
Sunset and Specialty cruises – a local favorite adult outing – give you a chance to relax and recharge or cut-loose on the deck or inside the cabin while enjoying music, light appetizers and an Oklahoma sunset. Sunset Cruises depart from Regatta Park at 7:30 pm every Friday, April through October and Specialty Cruises depart from Regatta at 7:30 pm every Saturday through December. Cruises are approximately 90 minutes and the fares start at $29 per person.
Take your Oklahoma River experience to the next level with a Kayak and Cruise. Enjoy an hour of Kayaking fun on the Oklahoma River, then hop aboard an Oklahoma River Cruiser for a leisurely cruise. You’ll paddle from the Boathouse District's eastern basin of the Oklahoma River, through the Brum Lock and into the western basin - all with an experienced kayak professional leading the way. You'll meet the Oklahoma River Cruiser at the Exchange Boathouse for a leisurely ride back to the Regatta Park landing.
Oklahoma River Cruises are also a great idea for a special event such as weddings, receptions, birthdays, or a holiday party. Private cruises can accommodate as many as 35 guests. The on-staff event planner can provide assistance with catering, decorations and entertainment.
