Riverwind Casino celebrates its 5th anniversary this August in a big way with non-stop gaming promotions and giveaways as well as with the most action-packed entertainment calendar in the metro area. It’s no surprise Riverwind Casino has been recognized as the metro’s best gaming spot several years in a row.
As the state’s second largest gaming venue, Riverwind Casino offers 219,000 square feet of endless excitement. In its fifth year, the world-class venue now offers more than 2,700 electronic games, more than 50 blackjack and poker tables, an off-track betting lounge, the state’s largest buffet, and upscale dining options. With an elegant hotel adjacent to the casino, there’s no reason to travel hundreds of miles in search of a better place to play. It’s right here!
Riverwind Casino also keeps audiences enthralled inside the Showplace Theatre, a state-of-the-art music and entertainment venue like none other in the region. This month’s calendar is packed with a multitude of shows, which gives everyone a reason to take a seat in the intimate 1,500-person theatre. From red dirt country fans to mixed martial arts’ enthusiasts, the breathtaking performances leave audiences wanting more. Headlining some of the upcoming concerts at Riverwind’s Showplace Theatre include country-music artist Gary Allan on Aug. 6 and Brantley Gilbert on Aug. 26.
This month also features the first of many MMA events scheduled at Riverwind over the next couple years. Slated for Saturday, Aug. 20, King of the Cage: Overdrive puts exhilarating, power-packed fights in the spotlight as Tuttle, Okla-native Jeremy Spoon takes on Donald Sanchez of New Mexico. Other featured Oklahomans include DeJuan Jackson, Oklahoma City, Trisha Clark, Edmond, and Chris “Bones” Jones, Oklahoma City.
The diversity in the casino’s show schedule continues in the fall with upcoming shows including: the final selection round for the 2011-12 Oklahoma City Thunder Girl team, Aug. 11; CatBox Entertainment’s Friday Night Fights, Sept. 2; actor on TNT’s Leverage and country-music artist Christian Kane, Sept. 23; The Script, Sept. 27, Susan G. Komen’s Men of Oklahoma event, Sept. 29; rock band 3 Doors Down, Oct. 20, and many others. As always, various local bands keep patrons entertained and even dancing in The River Lounge every Friday and Saturday night.
“We are extremely fortunate to have all the right pieces in place to give patrons from across the state and nation an unforgettable experience,” explained Jack Parkinson, Riverwind Casino general manager. “In our first five years, we have listened to our patrons’ comments and transformed into an unexpected destination casino with a large number of gaming machines, thrilling concerts, various and delicious dining options, a modern hotel, and dance club-like atmosphere.”
And you never know what local legends you might encounter while at Riverwind. Award-winning country music star and local resident, Toby Keith once thrilled concert goers with a surprise visit to take the stage alongside county music legend Willie Nelson for a couple of duets. Also, three of the most respected names in Oklahoma college football history Steve Owens, Billy Sims and Jason White are often seen at their jointly-owned restaurant Autographs Sports Bar located next to the Willows Buffet at Riverwind.
Their desire to do something together, something of high quality and something in their college town, brought the three together on this special project. Autographs is 62 square feet of television viewing on its 15 plasma TVs, plus two projection screens. The restaurant also features 27-inch LCD screens at every booth with independent channel selection, surround sound and volume control, offering most NFL games in a casual fireplace setting.
“That is the beauty of our casino,” said Angel Green, Riverwind Casino marketing manager. “You never know what is around the next corner. It adds another element of adventure and excitement to not know exactly who you’re going to run into when you take a stroll across the gaming floor or sit down for a well-deserved steak dinner.”
The 5th anniversary celebration at Riverwind takes place the entire month of August with endless giveaways and extra incentives abound. During Riverwind’s Fabulous 5th Birthday Bash, the casino will give have a special giveaway every day throughout August, including five 55-inch televisions every Friday and a 5-Series BMW on Sunday, August 28.

Net revenues from the casino support a myriad of programs and services for the citizens of the Chickasaw Nation including education, health care, nutrition, youth and elder care programs, scholarships and more.
