Visitors to Oklahoma City can join the grand patriotic celebration and celebrate America’s freedom. "Downtown Oklahoma City Salute" will run the full month of July featuring a variety of events, concerts, and activities for every member of the family. All events will take place in and around Downtown OKC.
The month of festivities kicks off on July 1 with festivities in Bricktown and the RedHawks hosting the Memphis Redbirds at SBC Bricktown Ballpark with a dazzling fireworks show following the game on Friday and Saturday night. On July 2, things heat up Bricktown with non-stop music entertainment from 6pm to midnight Friday through Sunday. The festival will feature a children’s area with inflatable games, interactive rides, clowns, a caricature artist, and face painting.
The grand event happens on July 3, with a spectacular patriotic event encompassing all of Downtown Oklahoma City. Join the thousands of people during the 40th Annual 4th of July parade, followed by a flag dedication ceremony in Bricktown at 12 noon. The "Salute to Freedom" parade will wind its way through Downtown featuring military and community groups, floats and hometown entertainment. The parade will begin on Hudson and head east on Sheridan, ending in Bricktown at Joe Carter Avenue.
On July 4th, Downtown OKC Salutes our "Biggest Backyard" - the beautiful Myriad Botanical Gardens - for a family fun celebration with entertainment, refreshments and free admission to the tropical Crystal Bridge. The gardens will be a perfect place to bring your picnic and sit under the shade for a family gathering. The garden celebration ends of 9:00 pm giving guests the chance to move on to Kerr Park or Bricktown to view the giant Downtown Salute Fireworks Extravaganza that will blast off at 10:00 pm. Guests will be treated to a pyrotechnic delight as the Downtown sky is filled with the rockets red glare. Hit the streets and join the fun.
The weekend is only the beginning of the Downtown OKC Salute celebration. Every Sunday during the month, the Oklahoma City Arts Council presents the Sunday Twilight Concert at the Myriad Gardens. Sunday Twilight Concerts begin at 6:30pm and include: July 11, Son del Barrio (Salsa); July 18, Hi-Def Howlers (Rock); and July 25, The Burtschi Brothers (Americana). Concerts are free!
July 3rd and 24, the Yard Dawgz will excite fans with the final home games of the season at the Ford Center. On July 11, fans of Jessica Simpson will fill the Ford Center for an exciting concert by this trendy artist, and the sounds of Van Halen will fill the arena on July 25. Throughout the month, visitors can enjoy Bricktown entertainment, water taxi rides, trolley tours, and the Big Bug Exhibit at the Myriad Botanical Gardens Crystal Bridge.
