Outdoor enthusiasts will want to experience the new Bass Pro Shop, by attending the Grand Opening on November 20th. The store is located in the historic Bricktown Entertainment District at the junction of Interstate 40 and 235 in downtown Oklahoma City.
The focal point of the store is the 30,000-gallon aquarium, featuring native Oklahoma fish, which will mesmerize visitors for hours. The waters are stocked with bass, stripers, catfish, gar, crappie, carp, pan fish and walleye. Many of the fish are "double-digit" in size and are a sight to see. Completing the nostalgic theme of the store is a vignette of a cabin, painted mural and artifacts, including rocks and trees, replicating a scene from the movie "Where The Red Fern Grows" The popular and award-winning 1961 children's novel by Wilson Rawls, and subsequent movie was filmed primarily in Tahlequah, Oklahoma and along the Illinois River, in the Cookson Hills. Bass Pro is located at 200 Bass Pro Drive in Bricktown. Store hours are: Monday through Saturday from 9 am to 10 pm and Sundays 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. For more information, call 218-5200 or visit www.basspro.com.
