KEY Oklahoma City

Sure to bring thrills, chills and fangs to Oklahoma City is the state premiere of Ben Stevenson’s blockbuster theatrical ballet production of Dracula. With the talents of one of the country’s premiere dance companies, the Tulsa Ballet takes the Oklahoma City stage in Dracula at the Civic Center Music Hall for a limited engagement of only two performances October 24th-25th.

Dracula is set to the music of Franz Liszt in an arrangement by John Lanchberry. Hailed by The New York Times as “a Dracula beyond Stoker’s darkest dreams,” this wildly theatrical ballet features vampire brides who fly through the air, a ghastly coach that careens on and off stage and a magnificent, 23 foot long cape in which Dracula ensnares his victims.

Following its premiere in Texas, the ballet was presented across the globe in Los Angeles, Hong Kong, Toronto, Fort Lauderdale and at The John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC. Dance Magazine
pronounced the work “a Dracula to die for,” calling it the last word on magnificent spectacle. The Chicago Tribune enthused “Dracula gives new life to an old art form.” After its premiere in Houston, the work entered the repertories of Pittsburgh Ballet Theater, Boston Ballet, Pennsylvania Ballet, Texas Ballet Theater, Ballet Florida and now Tulsa Ballet.

Jennifer Dunning of The New York Times praised Dracula, observing “The sets, costumes and lighting are not just lavish, but exquisitely beautiful and atmospheric. For once, $1 million, the cost of Dracula, looks like a million.” Under the headline “Dracula looks like a million,” Clive Barnes of the New York Post praised the “sumptuously imaginative scenery,” calling the production “magnificently and spookily spectacular.”

Presented by Celebrity Attractions, Dracula comes to the Civic Center Music Hall for only two limited performances Saturday, October 24th at 7 p.m. and Sunday, October 25th at 2 p.m. Tickets may be purchased via phone (800) 869-1451, (405) 297-2264, in person at the Civic Center Music Hall Box Office or online at
