KEY Oklahoma City

key oklahoma cityEvery City has an iconic restaurant – the one that is the fabric of the community - the restaurant that is the locals “go to” place for great atmosphere, service and consistency - but most importantly great food. In Oklahoma City, that restaurant is The George Prime Steakhouse.

The George is a fine dining restaurant located atop the historic Founders Tower and boasts the best 360 degree views of the city. The bar setting and view, including spectacular views of downtown and the State Capitol, are as incredible as the hand-crafted drinks. All bar juices are freshly squeezed and all bar syrups and tinctures are house-made. Equally as impressive is the wine list with extensive wines by the glass. The wine room, a section of the dining room, is surrounded by wine walls. The working display is incredible and features over 1000 bottles of wine representing more than 450 labels.

Strolling around the perimeter will leave you a little awestruck by the exterior view. On the north side you’ll find intimate two-tops with a view of Lake Hefner and a chef’s table that offers a view into the kitchen. An exclusive section of horseshoe-shaped booths face downtown.

The restaurant also offers private dining rooms equipped for small or large banquets and presentations. The interior views are equally as stunning. The newly renovated space provides several dining experiences from private enclosed rooms to an open air wine room to open dining seating with exceptional views. The decor is modern but soothing. A combination of whites and greys, offset with colorful art work from local artists, including Jean Richardson and Bert Seabourn among others.

The George Prime Steakhouse lives up to its name. The menu showcases both prime and Wagyu beef and is the centerpiece of the menu. You’ll find those prime cuts ranging from a 7-ounce filet to a 21-ounce Cowboy ribeye with various sizes in between. Wagyu is offered in a New York strip. The restaurant doesn’t live by beef alone. Entrée choices include salmon, pan seared flounder, cold-water lobster tail, jumbo shrimp and double-cut lamb chops.

The George is open Monday thru Friday 11-2 for Lunch; Dinner is served Monday through Saturday beginning at 5:00. Walk-ins are welcome, but reservations are suggested by calling 405-242-4761. The George is located at 5900 Mosteller Drive (Between United Founders Boulevard and N. May Avenue) atop Founders Tower.
