Visitors to Oklahoma City, June 7-10, have the opportunity to experience what MovieMaker Magazine hailed as one of the Top 20 Coolest Film Festivals in the World. The deadCenter Film Festival, an annual independent film showcase, highlights over 100 indie films from across the country.
The name “deadCenter” refers to Oklahoma City, the “dead center” of the United States, and the “dead center” of the downtown Oklahoma City metro area, where the festival is held. Come celebrate the art of independent film with screenings, panels, workshops and numerous parties planned over five full days in downtown Oklahoma City.
The deadCenter Film Festival was founded in 2001 by Justan and Jayson Floyd, who hosted a one-night screening of short films from Oklahoma filmmakers at City Arts on the State Fairgrounds. Their mother provided hot dogs and snacks for the 50 film fans that showed up. And, just like that, deadCenter Film was off and running! The annual festival now attracts nearly 30,000 fans to Oklahoma City to meet filmmakers and see award-winning films from around the world.
Its mission is to promote, encourage and celebrate creativity through independent film. deadCenter accomplishes this mission with the festival, a year-round education program and screenings throughout the year in partnership with museums and various arts organizations. It's a great chance to see exciting new short films, insightful documentaries, hilarious comedies, scary monster movies, and the best independent films from around the world and all over Oklahoma.
All films and events take place in downtown Oklahoma City with screenings at Harkins Bricktown Cinemas, Oklahoma City Museum of Art, and outdoors at the Myriad Gardens Great Lawn. The best way to experience deadCenter is to purchase an All Access Pass, which offers priority entrance to every film, party, panel and special event. Individual tickets are available on a limited basis to specific films starting 20 minutes before each screening.
Join the fun and add one of the top 20 ‘coolest’ festivals to your resume! For more information, all-access passes and the festival schedule visit www.deadCenterfilm.org.
