A ‘street rod’ is defined as a modernized vintage vehicle that must be of manufacture prior to 1949. A large percentage of the cars have updated drive trains, modern chassis’s, leather interiors, air conditioning and all the “creature comforts” of a new automobile. Vehicles participating in this years show will range from $10,000 to $60,000 and have a cumulative value of over $70 million dollars. For a sneak peak at the cars, join the fun during the street rod parade that begins at 12:00 noon on Friday, April 4, at the fairgrounds and winds its way throughout downtown. All of the cars will be on display throughout the event for an up close inspection. The NSRA Southwest Street Rod Nationals is an excellent event for spectators to attend and those who take time to attend will be treated to the sights and sounds of some of the most beautiful, best constructed vintage vehicles ever assembled in one place. One of the special attractions for the spectators is that they can walk right up to the vehicles and check each one out close up as they are not roped-off or otherwise confined. All are in the open and can be examined top to bottom, front to back, inside and out. While the exquisite paint and other features of the car should not be touched, spectators are free to look to their heart’s content. In addition to the cars, over 100 manufacturers of street rod and automotive specialty equipment will have exhibits in the Cox Pavilion building. All of the products shown by the exhibitors will be for sale. Exhibits will be open all three days. Admission is $14 adults; $5 for children 6-12; and children under 5 are free with paid adult. Discounted tickets are priced at $12 for seniors (60 years of age and older) and military personnel with proper identification. Also, priced at $12 are discounted tickets for NSRA members with a current membership card The event is open Friday and Saturday from 8:30am to 5pm and Sunday from 8:30am to 2pm. Tickets for the event are for sale at the Fairgrounds only. For more information, visit www.nsra-usa.com. Current
