Profile: Mara Rivera has spent the past several years on an island. Literally. Until her recent return to Oklahoma City, she owned a restaurant and worked for the Chamber of Commerce in South Padre Island. But her love of Oklahoma and the re-opening of one of Oklahoma City’s most historic hotels, brought her home. Originally opened in 1911, the Skirvin Hotel closed in 1988, but was resurrected by Marcus Resorts and Hotels in March. The Hotel’s rich history is on display in its rich and colorful lobby. Mara loves the arts, having graduated from the University of Central Oklahoma with a major in English and minor in Art. That’s why she’s such a great fit at the Skirvin Hilton Hotel. Located within blocks of the Oklahoma City Museum of Art, Mara encourages guests to attend the Museum’s permanent and traveling exhibits, as well as the independent films shown at the Museum’s theatre. When dining, Mara recommends the Park Avenue Grill and Red Piano Bar, both located within the Skirvin Hilton. The upscale restaurant features American cuisine with a flare of Southwest fusion. (And the bar features an actual red piano!) For visitors wanting to explore Oklahoma City, Mara recommends the Paseo Arts District and Western Avenue District. Both districts contain a diverse selection of art galleries, shops, and restaurants. A concierge
(pronounced kon-'syerzh) is the closest thing you can find to your
own personal assistant in a fine hotel. The concierge in your hotel
is there to make your stay in Oklahoma City more enjoyable and hassle-free.
A Concierge can do more than call a cab. Through their contacts, locally,
nationally, and internationally, a Concierge can:
